Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh, the Chief of Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has recently said that he will hang himself if one allegation against him gets proven in the court of law. He has released a video statement in connection with the sexual harassment case levelled by the top women wrestlers in the country, including the names like Vinesh Phogat and Sakshi Malik.
Since the matter is under the jurisdiction of Delhi Police currently, Brij Bhushan talked about not being at liberty to discuss anything regarding it. He also dared the wrestlers to produce the collaborating evidence like video, audio, or an eye witness, related the sexual harassment case.
The BJP MP mentioned that he has done great things for Indian wrestling in the last 11 years and there was nothing wrong in his conduct with the wrestlers during that time period.
Meanwhile, the protest from the wrestling community at the Jantar Mantar in Delhi against Brij Bhushan has been intensifying by the day. They are demanding that the 66-year-old gets sacked from his post in WFI and arrested for all the wrongdoings against the women wrestlers over the years.
Furthermore, Bhartiya Kisan Union (BKU), a farmer’s body, has extended their support to the wrestlers in their fight for justice against Brij Bhushan. The national spokesperson of BKU, Rakesh Tikait was quoted as saying before leaving for Jantar Mantar to join in the wrestler’s protest, “They (protesting wrestlers) have our full support. We will decide today (on the future course of action). Arrest (of Brij Bhushan Sharan Singh) must be done when FIR has been registered.”
