On Monday, March 10, the International Cricket Council (ICC) announced recently-concluded Champions Trophy 2025 Team of the Tournament. The announcement came just hours after India’s victorious campaign in Dubai, where they defeated New Zealand in the summit clash by four wickets in hand and an over to spare.
Speaking of the Team of the Tournament, New Zealand skipper Mitchell Santner was named the captain of the side, which also included the likes of Rachin Ravindra, Glenn Phillips and Matt Henry from the runners-up side. However, the team included six players from the title winning Indian team.
Rohit Sharma snubbed from CT 2025 Team of the Tournament
Although, Team India skipper Rohit Sharma did not find a place in the Indian team, it included the likes of veteran Indian batter Virat Kohli, ODI specialists Shreyas Iyer and KL Rahul. All-rounder Axar Patel, along with star pacer Mohammed Shami and spin sensation Varun Chakravarthy was also named in the 12-man squad.
The team did not have any names from the host nation Pakistan, 2023 World Cup winners Australia, and England whereas two of the Afghanistan cricketers also featured in the list, namely Ibrahim Zadran and Azmatullah Omarzai.
