The International Cricket Council (ICC) reportedly relocated the Pakistan cricket team’s team hotel ahead of their first game in the  ICC Men’s T20 World Cup 2024. The ninth edition of the T20 World Cup began on June 1, in the USA and the West Indies. The Men in Green opened their campaign in the marquee ICC event on Thursday, June 6, as they clashed against co-hosts USA. Ahead of the 2009 T20 World Champions’ season beginner, the international cricketing governing body relocated the team’s hotel in New York.

The Babar Azam-led side are set to play two group-stage games in New York over the next week. According to the Times of India, the ICC allotted Pakistan a hotel which was almost 90 minutes away from the venue, the Nassau County International Cricket Stadium. The Pakistan team was set to clash against India and Canada. It would take Babar Azam and Co. around 90 minutes to commute to the stadium at this venue.

A source told The Associated Press that Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) chairman Mohsin Naqvi filed a complaint regarding the same, resulting in the ICC changing the venue. Sources further stated that their new hotel is just five minutes from the stadium. Notably, India’s team hotel is located 10 minutes from the cricketing venue.

Not only this, but even the Sri Lankan team expressed concerns over their travel time from the hotel to the stadium in New York. As per several reports, the Islanders required one hour to travel from their hotel to the purpose-built stadium on Long Island in Westbury, New York.
