Lucknow Super Giants suffered an eight-wicket defeat against Delhi Capitals in match number 40 of IPL 2025 at Ekana Cricket Stadium on Tuesday, April 22. After getting a good start by their openers, LSG failed to keep the momentum going and were restricted at 159/6, with Mukesh Kumar registering match-winning figures of 4/33. After the match, the fans and the experts criticised LSG skipper Rishabh Pant for his decision to come to bat at number seven. The left-hander came to bat with just two balls remaining in LSG’s innings and got out on the last ball after a two-ball duck.

After the match, Rishabh Pant said that they wanted to capitalize on the pitch like that. “Idea was to like capitalize. We sent Samad to capitalize on a wicket like that. After that Miller came in and we just really got stuck in the wicket. Eventually, these are the things we got to figure out and try to find our best combination going forward,” Pant said at the post-match presentation.

We are gonna regroup, realign and refocus again: Rishabh Pant

Despite losing the game, Lucknow Super Giants didn’t have much difference in the points table as they still remain at the fifth spot with five wins and four losses. They are still in a comfortable position to qualify for the playoffs. Talking about this, Rishabh Pant said that LSG will look to start fresh from the next game.

“I haven't thought about anything as of now, just finished the match, we are gonna regroup, realign and refocus again. Just going to be playing the next match from a fresh start” Pant said
