A big news has arrived on the eve of Chennai Super Kings’ IPL 2025 fixture against Kolkata Knight Riders at Chepauk as MS Dhoni is set to lead the franchise for the rest of the season. Notably, Ruturaj Gaikwad has been ruled out for the remaining season after sustaining a hairline fracture on his elbow. After that, the management decided to go ahead with Dhoni as skipper who stepped down from the captaincy ahead of IPL 2024.

With MS Dhoni announced as CSK captain again, former Indian skipper Sourav Ganguly said that the wicket-keeper is a different ‘beast’ when he leads a team. “MS Dhoni can still hit sixes, we saw that in the other game. Obviously, he's 43 years old, you don't expect to see the MS Dhoni that I saw in 2005, that's quite natural. But I think he's still got the power to clear and hit. And I saw him play the other day in Punjab and he did hit a few sixes. I think with all his experience, all what he's achieved, he understands the game as good as anybody and will do what is right for CSK,” Ganguly was quoted as saying by India Today.

“If he (Dhoni) has to play for CSK, he must be captain of CSK. Because MS Dhoni, the captain is a different beast,” Ganguly further said.

Dhoni can always pull out his magic and make CSK qualify from here: Ambati Rayudu

Former cricketer Ambati Rayudu feels MS Dhoni can turn things around for CSK in IPL 2025 with his captaincy. Notably, the five-time champions had an off season so far as they lost four consecutive matches after winning their opening match against Mumbai Indians. Rayudu said that it would a great story if Dhoni makes CSK qualify from this position.

“First of all, it's very sad that Ruturaj, the captain of CSK has been ruled out of the IPL. But all the fans will definitely will be extremely excited to see MS Dhoni lead CSK again. He can always pull out his magic and make CSK qualify from here. It will be one great story. So, I am very, very excited and I just hope that he weaves his magic all over the CSK team," Rayudu said as quoted in India Today.
