MS Dhoni is one of the most loved cricketers in India. Despite retiring from international cricket, there is hardly any dip in his popularity. Not only does he garner the love and support of the fans but he also has the respect of his teammates and if there is one name from the cricketing sphere who shares a strong bond from MSD, it is his Chennai Super Kings deputy Suresh Raina. With him hanging his boots from all competitive cricket except IPL, there are always speculations around how long he will continue turning up in Yellow.

And now Raina, who had announced his retirement from international cricket on the same day as Dhoni, has made a big statement with regards to his IPL career. The left-handed batsman said that if Dhoni doesn't play in the next IPL season, he will also announce his retirement. He made the statement in an interview with a news organisation.

Dhoni to resume leadership role at CSK

As of now, Mahi is set to resume his leadership role at CSK once the suspended IPL 2021 resumes in the United Arab Emirates (UAE). While the tournament was supposed to culminate in May, it had to be stopped midway after several cases of COVID-19 emerged inside bio-secure bubbles of various teams. Keeping in mind the Coronavirus situation in India and an expected third wave, the competition has been shifted outside India along the T20 World Cup. Both the tournaments will happen one after the other in UAE, come September-October.
