The 16th edition of the Indian Premier League is approaching its end, and with the league matches coming to end, the cricketing fans cannot wait to see their favourite teams competing in the playoffs and finally, lift the trophy. Apart from providing complete entertainment to cricket lovers across the globe, the Indian cash-rich league is known for placing hidden talents from around the world on a pedestal and opening their ways to international cricket. In the past few editions, the Indian T20I league has seen several names making it big in global cricket, and youngsters try their luck in the tournament. One such name that wishes to make it to international cricket is Jaipur’s Mahipal Lomror, who represents Royal Challengers Bangalore in the IPL 2023. The 23-year-old credits his grandmother’s decision behind his success. 

In a heartwarming video posted by the Royal Challengers Bangalore, the Jaipur-based cricketer could be seen opening about his early days. He spoke about his training days in his native village and how his coach insisted him to shift to a bigger city for better facilities. Mahipal said that his grandmother’s decision of staying with him for his training helped him make it to the IPL. He has credited his grandmother for his success and said that he wouldn’t have  played the IPL if she hadn’t taken that decision. Mahipal said, “When I look back at that decision to send my grandmother to take care of me, it was a very big step. If that had not happened, I would not have played the IPL or been at this stage.”

Speaking about his selection in the Royal Challengers Bangalore, he said that playing in the same team as Virat Kohli is nothing less than a dream come true. He said, “I thought the team that Virat Kohli plays for and a team that has such a big name, I am going to play for them. That was a very proud feeling.” 

Notably, Mahipal made his IPL debut in 2018, and has played 27 matches to date in IPL so far. He was acquired by Royal Challengers Bangalore for INR 95 Lakh in the IPL 2023. He took one wicket in his IPL career and scored his maiden 50 and remained unbeaten on 54 off 27 deliveries during RCB’s game against Delhi Capitals in IPL 2023. RCB will take on Rajasthan Royals on May 14, Sunday in Jaipur.
