India women get first jab of COVID-19 vaccine, next one to be given in UK

It’s not only the Indian men’s squad who is making all the noise on the internet, the Women in Blue has also stepped in with a bang as they have begun their preparation ahead of the England tour. Notably, this will be the first time in the history of Indian cricket that both the men and women’s team are travelling together to the UK for their respective assignments.

While the men's team play the World Test Championship final against New Zealand and a five-match Test series against England later on, the women's team play a one-off Test against the hosts before playing 3 ODIs and as many T20Is.

The latest update about the Women in Blue is that all of them have now been given the first jab of COVID-19 vaccine. Meanwhile, the next one will be provided to them in England by the UK health department.

Mitali Raj and company completed their mandatory quarantine in Mumbai and were out with the other members of the side for the training sesssion, the clips of which was shared by BCCI on Thursday. The likes of Harmanpreet Kaur, Mithali Raj, Jhulan Goswami and Jemimah Rodriguez could be seen working out with full dedication.

The side will play under the newly appointed coach Ramesh Powar in the England tour. The women side will be leaving for the UK on June 2 with the men’s squad in a charter flight.
