In a recent development, it has now been confirmed that India Women’s one-off Test match against England will commence on June 16. The red-ball match will be played at Bristol. Moreover, it is also being known that the Women in Blue will play a three-match ODI series, along with a three-game T20I series in England. This will only be the women team’s second international assignment since the COVID-19 pandemic.

Faced defeat to South Africa women in ODI, T20I series

Earlier this year, India Women played a five-match ODI series as well as a three-match T20I series against their South Africa counterparts at home. However, the hosts had to face defeats in both the bilateral competitions. While the Proteas won the 5-match arrangement 4-1, they also clinched the three-match series 2-1.

Women’s T20 challenge likely to remain 3-team affair

Meanwhile, there is no update on the Women’s T20 challenge this year. While IPL 2021 has already commenced and is happening inside bio-security bubbles across venues, there are reports suggesting that the Women’s tournament will continue to be a 3-team affair this year even as BCCI had planned to introduce a new team in 2021. Although the schedule and venue is yet to be announced, it is likely to happen in Delhi. A final call on the event could be taken during BCCI’s Apex Council meeting on April 16.
