The joyful moments turned into a tragedy as a stampede took place in Bengaluru during the celebrations for Royal Challengers Bengaluru’s IPL title win in the city. Around 15 people lost their lives while over 50 people are reported to have sustained injuries. The fans were also gathered in large numbers from Vidhana Soudha to M. Chinnaswamy Stadium to celebrate their franchise's maiden title win after 18 years. However, due to the large crowd, stampede-like situation also took place in the city
Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi also issued a statement on the tragic incident and and shared condolences for the people who were affected. “The mishap in Bengaluru is absolutely heartrending. In this tragic hour, my thoughts are with all those who have lost their loved ones. I pray that those who are injured have a speedy recovery,” Modi said in his statement.
Rahul Gandhi shares condolences for affected ones during Bengaluru stampede
Leader of opposition in the Lok Sabha and member of Indian National Congress Party, Rahul Gandhi also shared a post on X and showed condolence for the affected people in the Bengaluru stampede. He also urged the Karnataka government to provide all the support for the families of the affected ones.
“My condolences to the families who lost their loved ones. Wishing a swift and full recovery to all those injured. In this hour of grief, I stand with the people of Bengaluru. The Karnataka government must provide all possible support and relief to the affected families,” Rahul Gandhi wrote on X.
“This tragedy is a painful reminder: no celebration is worth a human life. Every safety protocol for public events must be reviewed and strictly enforced - lives must always come first,” he further wrote.
