Indian Women’s team skipper Harmanpreet Kaur avoided a handshake with her Pakistani counterpart Fatima Sana during their clash at the Asia Cup 2026. The Women in Blue thrashed the neighbours in the continental tournament in UAE to continue their winning streak. With this win, the Indian team extended overall T20I head-to-head advantage over Pakistan to 15-3 and their Women’s Asia Cup record to 7-1. This is not it as the Indian side is now 3-0 in the tournament and finished the group stage in pole position to head into the semi-finals. 

However, coming back to the game, India and Pakistan, despite being neighbours, share one of the most intense rivalries. Ever since the situation between both the countries has gotten worse, the Indian side has openly expressed its frustration. One testament of the same was the recently-concluded match-up where Indian skipper Kaur avoided eye contact and customary handshake with her Pakistani rival during the toss. 

India Bundle Out Pakistan at 55; Record Seven-Wicket Win Over Arch-Rivals 

The Women in Blue continued their havoc and bundled the arch rivals out at just 55 runs in 18.1 overs. Shawaal Zulfiqar finished as their top run-scorer at 14 runs, while Shree Charani finished with the most wickets at three and figures of 3-7 to bag the Player of the Match Award. In return, the Indian side was able to chase down the total in just 8.4 overs with skipper Harmanpreet Kaur finishing as the top-scorer at 18* runs. It also marked Kaur’s 150th match as captain, the highest in Women’s T20Is. 

Speaking following the win, she said, “Very important game for us, and really happy (with) the way the entire team performed today, because we talk about being ruthless, and I’m really happy (with) the way we performed.” Speaking on her 150th game, she said, “I’m grateful. I never thought I’ll come that far, but all the people behind me who’s been supporting, I’m really grateful, and hopefully keep getting the support, because I think without support I’m nothing. And yeah, I’m grateful, and the entire team, support staff, they’ve been outstanding. So yeah, I mean many more to come hopefully. Let’s keep continuing the good work.”
