Federation of Motor Sports Clubs of India (FMSCI) has nominated one of India's most successful rally co-driver Musa Sherif for the coveted Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna award. The Kerala-based sportsman is into the sport for last 30 years and has brought various laurels for the country by winning numerous titles across the globe. His incredible achievements also include seven national title wins with Gaurav Gill.

While Gill is a recipient of Arjuna Award, Musa Sherif has been waiting for an opportunity to finally get his due. After getting nominated for country's highest sporting honour, Sherif said, "It is indeed a great honour for me and I would like to thank FMSCI for this recognition. It has been a long journey for me and over the years I partnered with 49 drivers and I thank each and every one of them for their support," Musa said in a release.

He also expressed his heartfelt gratitude to his sponsors JK Tyre and Mahindra Adventure while acknowledging Gaurav Gill for always being there by his side and helping him achieve his dreams. Notably, Gill and Musa have entered into 65 rallies where they have emerged winner on 38 occasions.

Daruvala and Ebrahim also nominated

Apart from Musa Sherif, FMSCI have also nominated F2 driver Jehan Daruwala and President Akbar Ebrahim for Arjuna Award and Dronacharya Award respectively. The Red Bull junior driver has made India proud in the motorsport circuit after getting multiple podium finishes in last 12 months. After winning the F2 sprint race in Bahrain last year, Daruvala is currently at 7th position in F2 drivers' standings with 53 points. Considering his achievements in last year, Daruvala will be a strong contender to win the prestigious Arjuna Award in 2021.
