India’s Sumit Nagal back in top 200 in ATP Rankings; Alcaraz continues at World No. 1

Sumit Nagal of India defeated fifth-seeded Dalibor Svrcina of the Czech Republic in straight sets on Sunday at the Tampere Open in Tampere, Finland, to win his second ATP Challenger title of the year. Seventh-seeded Nagal upset fifth-seeded Svrcina 6-4, 7-5 in the championship match. This win brings him his fourth overall ATP Challenger event.


This win has given Nagal a massive jump in the ATP Rankings, as earlier he was placed at No.231, but after the win, his ranking saw a huge jump of 53 spots and Nagal stormed into the top 200, now standing at No.178. This win has also made him eligible to compete in the US Open qualifiers, which are slated to commence from August 22. 


Adrian Mannarino, who won the championship in Newport, rose 11 spots to take up the 27th spot. The American Alex Michelsen rose 50 spots to 140th after falling to the Frenchman in his first ATP Tour final.


Pedro Cachin entered the top 50 for the first time after winning his first Tour-level championship in Gstaad. Albert Ramos-Vinolas of Spain was defeated by Argentine Cachin in the championship match, and Cachin rose 41 positions to claim 49th place. Ramos-Vinolas moved up 14 spots to come in at 65.
