After the launch of the BGMI Unban, the Indian government has taken a big step towards its correct use of play. As part of the latest update, the Union IT Ministry has stated that three different types of games will soon be banned by the Indian government. As per the new guidelines, within 90 days of the laws' introduction, certain SROs (Self-regulatory organisations), will now need to approve online games.
Three types of games will no longer be allowed in India, according to Rajeev Chandrasekhar, the Union Minister for Information Technology. The announcement follows the revelation of a sizable conversion racket that was using online games as a platform to persuade children into converting to a certain religion.
The government has already created a plan for the impending restrictions, Chandrasekhar informed ANI. The Minister said, "We have established a framework related to online gaming for the first time, in which we will not let three forms of games in the nation. The nation will ban games that constitute gambling, can be dangerous to the player, or have an addiction aspect.”
However, he withheld the standards that will be used to classify games into each of the aforementioned categories. He said that the following categories of games would be prohibited in India, those that include betting and pose a risk to the player. Even games which have high risk of addiction, will be under threat.
There is a very significant chance that games like BGMI, Fortnite, Call of Duty Mobile, and other similar games in India may get banned once more, if debates about a comprehensive and solid framework to determine which games will be allowed and which ones won't continue.
In reality, the three categories that IT Minister Chandrasekhar mentioned are too general to allow for even an educated judgement. One thing is certain, some of the most popular apps from the Apple App Store and Google Play Store will no longer be available in the coming months.
