The I-League 2024-25 season finished on a dramatic note as Churchill Brothers were crowned the champions of the league. The All India Football Federation (AIFF) had made a judgement of reducing points of Inter Kashi, who were on top of the table, because they decided that the registration of a foreign player Marco Barco by the club was not valid. The governing body of Indian football also stated that all matches played by him should be forfeited by the club. This resulted in the adjustment of the I-League points table with Churchill Brothers FC finishing on the top and declared champions.
However, Inter Kashi made an appeal to the Court of Arbitration for Sport (CAS), challenging the decision made by the AIFF. Following the hearing on Tuesday, July 15, CAS announced its decision on the appeal by Inter Kashi is upheld, and after that, they issued an official order to the AIFF to re-adjust the points table after which Inter Kashi finish the season on 42 points, Churchill Brothers FC on 40 points, Real Kashmir FC on 37 points, and Namdhari FC on 29 points. On Friday, July 18, it was officially announced that Inter Kashi are the new winners of the I-League 2024-2025 season.
Inter Kashi have officially earned their promotion to Indian Super League
This decision made by the CAS in favour of the team Inter Kashi has confirmed that they will be promoted to the Indian Super League (ISL) in the upcoming campaign. However, the future of the ISL remains uncertain till now and Inter Kashi will look forward to the ISL to resume as soon as possible.
Inter Kashi also shared a cryptic post on their social media stating that, “Truth Alone Triumphs” after their appeal was upheld by the CAS, and they are now crowned the Winners of the I-League. This marks a very dramatic ending to the already dramatic season of the I-League.
