Cristiano Ronaldo’s Portugal will take on Sweden in a friendly match on Thursday night, March 21, at Estadio Dom Afonso Henriques in Guimaraes. The friendly game will act as the preparation ahead of the start of the upcoming European Championship, which is scheduled to take place in June 2024.
Star player Cristiano Ronaldo will be back for the Portugal side after serving the Saudi side Al-Nassr. However, he is unlikely to feature in the friendly clash. Along with him, young forwards Jota Silva and Francisco Conceicao received their maiden call-up in the Portugal squad. The squad comprises of 32 players for the two friendlies against Sweden and Slovenia.
Sweden, on the other hand, will be coming to the friendlies and eventually to the Euros with a new coach Jon Dahl Tomasson, who hails from Denmark. Sweden did not qualify for the Euros last year and will kick off their era with a new manager as well as a newly appointed assistant Sebastian Larsson of Sweden.
