The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is expected to yield INR 800 crore in revenue from the Indian Premier League through sponsorship deals. This will be the highest income generated for the board since the inaugural edition in 2008.

Recently, there was a change in the IPL title sponsor where the Tata group replaced Vivo and have signed a two-year deal with the board. For the upcoming edition, around nine eminent brands are named as sponsors for IPL 2022, including two new associate sponsors.

The BCCI has also been working with Swiggy Instamart and RuPay towards a new central sponsorship deal. According to reports by News 18, BCCI has signed an INR 42 crore contract with RuPay and INR 44 crore with Swiggy Instamart as the IPL sponsor every year.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah has also expressed his elation towards the generated revenue from IPL via sponsorship but withheld from commenting on the exact number, that it is estimated to be astronomical. Tata Group will be paying INR 335 crore every year to IPL as the title sponsor of the tournament.  While another major portion of the income is expected to arrive from the pro-rata payment because of an increase in the number of matches in IPL 2022 and 2023 as per the sources.
