Prediction of the Game

The 15th edition of the Indian Premier League has neared its end. After 70 league games, it is now time for the knockouts game to take place. And in the first real knockout fixture where the losing side will be shown the exit door will be played between Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) on May 25 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.

While the KL Rahul-led side made a confident entry into the playoffs, Faf du Plessis’ RCB rode on their luck and sealed the last spot. And now, they pose a serious threat to Lucknow with some big match-winners in the hut. Virat Kohli also seemed to have found his mojo back after playing a match-winning knock of 73 against GT. In addition, RCB defeated LSG when the two teams met in the league stage. It will be interesting to see if they can do it again in the Eliminator.

Here is what the odds say about both teams winning crucial moments in the game.

1. Toss Prediction

Talking about both captains’ luck about the toss, KL Rahul and Faf du Plessis share a similar record in the last five games. Both captains have won three out of the last five tosses. However, du Plessis has an edge if an extra match is taken into account. Thus, the RCB captain is expected to win the toss in the crucial Eliminator.

2. Win Possibility

As both teams have met only once where Bangalore edged out Lucknow, looking at their form in the last three games looks like the better way to decide. So, Bangalore have won two out of their last three games while Lucknow have won one out of their last three matches. Hence, Bangalore are expected to defeat Lucknow one more time in IPL 2022 and progress to the next stage.

3. Team of the Day

With Virat Kohli back in form and other players also fulfilling their responsibilities, RCB are the team of the day for Eliminator.

4. Powerplay Score

The average powerplay score for Lucknow Super Giants this season has been 43.4 while for RCB it is 42.7. Now, taking the pitch at Eden Gardens in consideration, the powerplay score for LSG in Eliminator is expected to be in the range of 40-45 runs while for RCB it is expected to be below 40 runs.

5. Average first and second innings score

The average first innings score at Eden Gardens in T20Is is 155 and the average second innings score at the venue is 136.
