Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) by 34 runs and became the first team to qualify for the playoffs in IPL 2023. Gujarat also ensured a top-2 spot for them in the points table, which meant they would play Qualifier-1 of the IPL 2023 on 23rd May at MA Chidambaram Stadium, Chennai.
A loss for SRH also ensured they became the second team after Delhi Capitals to get knocked out from the playoffs race in IPL 2023. SRH's batting collapse in the second innings faltered their side to a 34-run loss against GT, and Bhuvneshwar Kumar's effort of picking a five-wicket haul in the first innings ended in vain. Among GT bowlers, both Shami and Mohit Sharma took four wickets.
In the first innings, GT posted a total of 188/9 with the help of a stunning century from Shubman Gill.
