Prithvi Shaw has struggled so far in the season, managing to score just 34 runs in 5 matches at an average of just 6.8 and strike rate of 117.24. He got caught three times, bowled once and an unfortunate run out on one occasion.

Seeing Prithvi Shaw's poor run of form, former Australian cricketer Tom Moody has some suggestions for the DC batter. Moody suggested that Prithvi Shaw should not open for the Delhi Capitals. He said that management should take a hard call by making Aussie batter Mitchell Marsh open the batting alongside skipper David Warner instead of Prithvi Shaw. He believes that IPL 2023 is not Prithvi Shaw’s year as he has failed to make an impact in the tournament so far. He also stated that if the management persists with Shaw any further, the team may not even qualify for the playoffs as they have lost all five games and are placed at the bottom of the table.

"You've got to make a tough call on certain players that aren't showing any light at the end of the tunnel. And on the evidence of what we've seen so far with Prithvi Shaw, it may well be that IPL 2023 may not be his year where he has the impact that we all hoped that he was going to have," Tom Moody was quoted as saying to ESPNcricinfo.

Earlier last month, Delhi Capitals coach Ricky Ponting had made a big statement on Prithvi Shaw and had predicted that this will be the biggest IPL season of Shaw’s career so far. He stated that we will see the real Prithvi Shaw this season and that he looks fitter than ever.
