Rajasthan Royals opener, Jos Buttler, who suffered a finger injury during their clash against the Dhawan-led squad, could miss their next match against Delhi Capitals. Buttler suffered the injury while he was fielding in the game against the PBKS, which they had lost by five runs, in Guwahati. Due to the severity of the injury, the RR opener needed stitches and was unable to open the innings for the team in the match.

The English batsman injured his little finger while taking a catch to dismiss Punjab batter, Shahrukh Khan. He took a sliding catch off Jason Holder’s ball in the last over and was seen in pain while leaving the ground with a few balls still remaining. In his absence, Ravichandran Ashwin took up the opener’s role and came to bat for the team with Yashasvi Jaiswal.

The confirmation of the injury came from the RR skipper, Sanju Samson, while he spoke during the post-match presentation. Samson said, "Jos was not fit. He was getting stitches for his finger after the catch." Not only this, Buttler was awarded the sponsor’s award for the best catch and came to collect his cheque with a white strapping on his little finger.

Royals, who opened their season on a winning note, went down to the Punjab-based franchise in their second match in Guwahati. They will now lock horns with Delhi Capitals on April 8, Saturday.
