Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) are set to play the match 58th of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 season against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium in Bengaluru on Saturday, May 17. Ahead of the highly anticipated clash between two of the most popular teams in the IPL, the fans are excited about how the big stars like Virat Kohli, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Sunil Narine, and Andre Russell, among others, will play after a break of well over a week.
With the IPL 2025 getting suspended for one week recently due to cross-border tensions between India and Pakistan, the question arose as to if and when the season will restart. And the BCCI took a few days to announce the revised schedule of the tournament, which will begin with KKR taking on RCB in a must-win contest, to stay in the hunt for the playoffs.
RCB are currently in a strong position on the IPL 2025 standings in second place with 16 points in 11 matches, just behind GT on Net Run Rate (NRR). On the other side, KKR are in sixth place on the standings with just 11 points in 12 matches, needing to win their last two matches handsomely, to give themselves an outside chance to finish in the top four if other results fall in their favour.

Talking about the weather for the match 58th of the IPL 2025 at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium, it is expected to be mainly cloudy in the evening hours with a heavy thunderstorm in the area, while the temperature will hit 24°C, according to the listings on AccuWeather. The probability of precipitation on Saturday, May 17, stands at 80% and humidity stands at 80%, indicating a huge threat of rain in the city during the contest.
During the upcoming RCB match of the IPL season in Bengaluru against KKR, there will be wind gusts of around 22 km/h in the evening, which could play a role in taking the rain showers away from the venue. If this isn’t the case, then the fans could expect some interruption in play at the M Chinnaswamy Stadium on a Saturday night prime time cricket spectacle.
