The 2025 edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) is currently underway in the Indian subcontinent. However, the majority of the season is almost done and only 18 matches are left to get a winner of IPL 2025. But with the recent terror attacks in the Kashmir valley coming midway through the tournament and the Indian government reacting with its Operation Sindoor, the future of the tournament is now under the clouds.

Seeing security tightened across the international borders after India’s retaliation, the biggest question arises is whether the IPL 2025 will go as per the schedule despite the escalating tensions between India and Pakistan. Amidst this, a top Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) informed that till now there is no change in the schedule, but the scenarios will be monitored closely.

BCCI will stand in solidarity with the government and the nation: Arun Dhumal

A source close to the developments informed, as quoted by India Today, “BCCI is monitoring the situation and depending on circumstances, a call will be taken. For now, the IPL will run as per schedule.” Later, speaking to India Today, IPL Chairman Arun Dhumal also said that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) will adhere to the government guidelines and will take necessary steps if and when need arises.

“The IPL Governing Council is keeping an eye on the situation. There are a lot of speculative things going on; we cannot do anything about that. But whenever the time comes to take such a decision where it seems that something needs to be done in the country’s interest, then the BCCI will stand in solidarity with the government and the nation,” Dhumal said.

The 74-match tournament, which kickstarted on March 22 has seen over 56 matches get played during a course of over a month. With only 18 matches still to go, the IPL 2025 is set to conclude this month with the finale scheduled for May 25 at the Eden Gardens in Kolkata.
