The franchises and the players have created new records as well as broken several great records throughout these years in IPL history. One of the records that is often broken is for the highest successful run chases in IPL.
Throughout the years, we have seen franchises shattering all the past records to chase a big total in the IPL. In the following listicle, we will discuss the five highest successful run chases in IPL history.

5. 219/6 by Mumbai Indians against Chennai Super Kings in 2021

Mumbai Indians (MI) achieved their highest run chase in IPL against the arch-rivals Chennai Super Kings at Arun Jaitley Stadium in Delhi on May 1, 2021. With the help of quickfire half-centuries from Faf du Plessis (50 off 28), Moeen Ali (58 off 36), and Ambati Rayudu (72* off 27), CSK posted a mammoth 218/4 on board after the end of 20 overs. In reply, MI got quick cameos from their then-skipper Rohit Sharma, Quinton de Kock and Krunal Pandya. But it was Kieron Pollard who took his team down the line with his unbeaten 87 runs off 34 balls as MI clinched a thrilling last-ball win with four wickets in hand.
4. 224/8 by Rajasthan Royals against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024
Jos Buttler’s brilliant batting masterclass guided Rajasthan Royals to a thrilling victory against Kolkata Knight Rider (KKR) at the Eden Gardens on April 16, 2024, which is also one of the highest successful run chases in IPL history. Sunil Narine’s maiden IPL hundred (109 off 56) guided KKR to a total of 223 runs for the loss of six wickets. In reply, Buttler anchored the run chase for RR with the help of quick cameos from Riyan Parag (34 off 14) and Rovman Powell (26 off 13). The match went down to the last over where Buttler scored the winning run on the last ball of the game to give RR one of the thrilling finishes in IPL.
3. 226/6 by Rajasthan Royals against Kings XI Punjab in 2020
Rajasthan Royals make their appearance in the list of highest successful run chases in IPL history once again. With a big partnership by skipper KL Rahul (69 off 54) and Mayank Agarwal (106 off 50), followed by a quick cameo from Nicholas Pooran (25 off 8), Kings XI Punjab (now known as Punjab Kings) posted 223/2 on board in Sharjah on September 27, 2020. In reply, RR skipper Steve Smith (50 off 27) and Sanju Samson (85 off 42), along with a match-changing knock of 53(31) by Rahul Tewatia, including those five sixes in the 18th over off Sheldon Cottrell, RR chased the winning total in 19.3 overs.
2. 247/2 by Sunrisers Hyderabad against Punjab Kings in 2025
Sunrisers Hyderabad achieved the second highest sccessful run chase in IPL in a match against Punjab Kings at Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on April 12, 2025. In reply to PBKS' mammoth 245/6 runs, SRH openers, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma put up a fiery opening partnership of 171 runs in 12.2 overs. Head got out after scoring 66 runs off 37 ballls while Abhishek smashed 141 runs off just 55 balls hitting 14 fours and 10 sixes. SRH chased the target in just 18.3 overs losing two wickets.
1. 262/2 by Punjab Kings against Kolkata Knight Riders in 2024
The highest successful run chase in IPL history belongs to Punjab Kings (PBKS). The PBKS pulled off a historic chase against Kolkata Knight Riders at Eden Gardens on April 26, 2024. KKR posted a mammoth 261/6 on board with a collective effort from all batters. Jonny Bairstow 108* off 48) and Prabhsimran Singh (54 off 24) replied with a 93-run opening partnership in six overs, followed by Shashank Singh's unbeaten 68(28) as PBKS chased the winning total in 18.5 overs at the loss of two wickets.
