R-Ashwin-Test

In the ongoing BAN vs IND 2nd Test match, (on Day 2) Ravi Ashwin completed an important milestone of scoring 3000 runs with the bat. Notably, the off-spinner already has 400-plus wickets in his Test career and thus among fans, there was a curiosity to know whether is there any player other than Ashwin who owns this record or not. Here in this article, we will have a look at names other than Ashwin who have more than 400 wickets and scored more than 3000 runs in Test cricket.

1. Richard Hadlee:
The New Zealand bowling all-rounder in his Test career has taken 431 wickets (150 inns) and also has scored 3124 runs (134 inns). He was the first player in Tests to reach the feat of picking 400-plus wickets and scoring 3000-plus runs in Test history.

2. Kapil Dev:
The Haryana Hurricane Kapil Dev has been one of the greatest pace bowlers to have played Test cricket for India. Kapil Dev's Test career spanned 16 years and in such a long career he has taken 434 wickets (227 inns) and has also scored 5248 runs (184 inns). Kapil Dev still remains to be the highest wicket-taker for India among pace bowlers.

3. Shane Warne:
Warne who is always considered as King of Spin has had a magnificent career in Test cricket. The leg spinner has taken 708 wickets (273 inns) to his name in Test cricket and was also very useful as a lower-order batsman for his team. He has smashed 3154 runs (199 inns) in Test cricket. Warne's tally of 3154 runs remains to be highest for any batsman in Test cricket among players who haven't smashed a single hundred.

4. Shaun Pollock:
South African all-round player Shaun Pollock has taken 421 wickets (202 inns) and also has smashed 3781 runs (156 inns) with the bat. Pollock was a great asset for his team as a genuine all-rounder from 1995-2008.

5. Stuart Broad:
The English pacer, Stuart Broad has taken 566 wickets (293 inns) so far in his career. Broad over the years has been an indispensable part of the English bowling attack alongside the legend James Anderson. Broad has smashed 3550 runs (232 inns) so far in his Test career. Notably, Stuart Broad smashed 169 runs against Pakistan in the 2010 Lord's Test while batting at the number 9 position.
