Former Indian cricketer Joginder Sharma has advised Chennai Super Kings skipper MS Dhoni to call off his IPL career after the end of the ongoing season in 2025. The 2007 T20 World Cup winner feels that it’s time for Dhoni to rest and he should not play in the next IPL season in 2026.
The five-time champions CSK had their worst season this year as they become the first side to get knocked out of the playoffs race in IPL 2025. MS Dhoni, who stepped in as CSK skipper again after Ruturaj Gaikwad getting ruled out due to injury, also couldn’t change his team’s fortunes in his captaincy. Talking about his future in the cash–rich league, Dhoni hasn’t any confirmation regarding his retirement and said that he wants to wait for seven to eight months more to see if he can play the next season.
Joginder Sharma also supported MS Dhoni’s decision to play for providing his fitness but he also believes that he should now call off his IPL career. “Considering Mahi’s fitness level, he should play up to prove his fitness, but I believe it is time for him to rest," Joginder said in his interview with ANI.
