Britain’s tennis star Jack Draper displayed dominance against Brazil’s Joao Fonseca in the third round of the French Open 2025, recording a 6-2, 6-4, 6-2 victory. It was their second meeting this year as both clashed against each other in the 2025 India Wells Masters, where Draper held his nerves and walked back triumphant with a 6-4, 6-0 win. This time, the fifth-seed player utilised his experience against the youngster to claim his superiority again. Fonseca, who is known for his fierce playing style and extraordinary forehand, capitulated against the 23-year-old as soon as pressure started building on him.

In recent times, Draper has displayed diligence which has helped him to emerge into a top-notch player. Before this marquee tournament, he warned his opponents to be wary of him by reaching the final of men’s singles of the Madrid Open 2025. Draper picked attacking strokes at the right time to build pressure on Fonseca. He also tested the patience of the Brazilian by engaging in ferocious rallies. In the rapid conditions, Fonseca found it difficult to counter Draper’s forehand and surrendered eventually in the opening set.

In the second set, spectators were seen rooting for Fonseca but Jack Draper looked unfazed and crushed the hopes of the teen player’s hopes to make a comeback. He also shattered a 4-3 lead after accumulating two break points in the 10th game, which later proved requisite to pick up a two-set lead.

Following the second set loss, Fonseca looked downbeat and struggled to tackle the 23-year-old and eventually gave up the game with the final set defeat of 6-2. It is Draper’s maiden triumph at Roland Garros. The British will next square off against Kazakhstan's Alexander Bublik in the fourth round of the distinguished competition.
