The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) is all set to announce India’s 15-member preliminary squad for the upcoming ICC Men’s Champions Trophy 2025, which will be held in Pakistan and the UAE in February-March. While the squad will be announced later on Saturday, January 18, reports reveal that Indian spearhead Jasprit Bumrah is all set to be included in the side despite injury concerns.

Notably, the ace pacer suffered a back injury during the fifth Border-Gavaskar Trophy (BGT) Test in Sydney and did not take the field in the second innings. However, Bumrah has been advised rest, he is all set to feature in the Indian squad for the marquee 50-over tournament, set to commence from February 19 in Pakistan.

According to several sources, Bumrah will find himself in the 15-man squad, however his participation will be subject to fitness. Moreover, it is to be believed that the 31-year-old will undergo scans to determine the nature of the injury which will further provide a clarity on his participation.

Although, the ICC had earlier proposed January 12 as the deadline day to submit the preliminary squads, but the BCCI requested ICC for an extension to further assess Bumrah’s injury. Reports also reveal that if the Ahmedabad-born player recovers in time, he might feature in the third ODI of the three-match series against England, set to be played on February 12 at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad.
