After reports of star Indian pacer Jasprit Bumrah being advised complete bed rest at home, the Indian Test vice-captain has come out to refute the reports, calling the sources as “unreliable”. Earlier on Wednesday, January 15, reports surfaced surrounding the Indian pacer, who was advised bed rest after swelling in his back seeing excessive workload during the recently-concluded tour of Australia.
“Bumrah could go to the CoE next week but right now there is no fixed date yet. He has been advised bed rest at home to help the muscles recover and the swelling to subside. Once that is done, future course of action will be ascertained,” a source close to the development said, as quoted by TOI.

However, the source further asserted that Bumrah will not be rushed back to cricket at this stage, but confirmed that he will have to report at the National Cricket Academy in Bengaluru for his rehabilitation. Just a day after these reports emerged, the 31-year-old has simply refuted them, calling the sources as “unreliable”. Responding to a post on X (formerly Twitter), Bumrah captioned, “I know fake news is easy to spread but this made me laugh. Sources unreliable.”
As the Indian pacer is expected to report at the NCA, his injury will be assessed further during his three-week stay. Furthermore, several reports add that the 31-year-old will be playing a game or two for fitness purposes before making his return in international cricket.
This positive news from the Indian pacer comes seeing that the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) requested the International Cricket Council (ICC) for an extension to announce the provisional squad for the Champions Trophy 2025. While the ICC had put forth January 12 as the deadline day for squad submission, the BCCI is expected to announce the squad between January 17 to 19.
