Days after going down against England in the opening Test of the five-match Anderson-Tendulkar Trophy, Team India resumed their practice for the upcoming second Test, which is scheduled to be played from July 2 to 6 at Edgbaston in Birmingham. The Men in Blue, who put up 835 runs with the bat across the two innings with the help of five centuries, failed to make a mark on the field and lost the Headingley Test by five wickets as England chased the 371-run target with ease.

But as they now eye to level the series, the Shubman Gill-led side resumed net practice on Friday, June 27. As the members of the visiting side got back on the field after days of rest, star Indian pacer did not participate in any on-field activity, hinting at his omission from the Edgbaston Test.

Jasprit Bumrah likely to miss second Test against England

However, there have been speculations of Jasprit Bumrah missing the second Test in Birmingham, it was further confirmed as the Indian spearhead despite being part of the team present at the venue of training, did not take part in any on-field activity. Furthermore, a report by Times of India (TOI) also claimed that apart from Bumrah, Prasidh Krishna was also missing from action.

Although, a clarity on Bumrah’s absence from the upcoming Test is still awaited, this comes after head coach, Gautam Gambhir also reiterated Ajit Agarkar’s statement from past month that Bumrah will only be part of three Test matches during the ongoing tour in order to manage his workload.
