In the event that current club owner Joe Lewis is found guilty of insider trading, it is rumored that legendary musician Jay-Z is planning a surprise takeover offer for Tottenham Hotspur. Lewis's success in currency trading has helped him accumulate a wealth of more than £5 billion.
The Spurs owner testified last week in a New York court to refute 16 counts of securities fraud and three additional conspiracy accusations relating to suspected insider trading offenses between 2013 and 2021. According to US Attorney Damian Williams, the potential punishment for each charge ranges from five to twenty-five years in prison.

It is unknown if the 53-year-old, who is estimated to be worth £1.95 billion, would be well-received by Spurs' supporters given that he has previously expressed interest in investing in Tottenham's rival in north London, Arsenal. Although a deal there never materialized, Jay-Z made it apparent that Thierry Henry had converted him to a Gunners supporter.
An anonymous associate of Jay-Z stated to the Express, “More than a few of the very top clubs there – like Manchester United, Liverpool and Chelsea – are now under US ownership and Jay would jump at the chance of a controlling interest at board level somewhere with the global reach of Spurs.
Jay-Z, who is already a co-owner of NBA team Brooklyn Nets, is prepared to head a group of investors as they wait for the outcome of Lewis' allegations. The startling connections surfaced after Beyonce performed at the stadium of the Tottenham Hotspurs this summer.

The rapper, whose real name is Shawn Carter, is well within reach of Spurs' estimated market value of $2.8 billion (£2.18 billion), which has increased marginally this year. "He believes this is achievable, especially with the support of fellow investors," his colleague stated.
According to Forbes, the rap legend currently has a net worth of more than $2.5 billion (£1.9 billion), and he is the head of an American financial company. Jay Z revealed he had grown to be a tremendous fan of the squad then led by his favorite player, Thierry Henry, and that he had indicated an interest in becoming a large investment in Arsenal 13 years before to his proposal to purchase Spurs.
