The continuous rise of COVID-19 cases in India have posed a huge challenge in front of BCCI with respect to player's safety and logistical issues. While the cricket governing body has been quite successful in conducting the ongoing season of IPL without any bio-bubble breaches, they have still not been able to gain the trust of all the players as many overseas stars have left for home mid-way through the season.

No T20 World Cup in India?

It seems like that the current situation might have a huge impact on the upcoming T20 World Cup which is currently scheduled to be played in India in October-November. According to latest reports, there are high chances that the mega-event will move out of India because of the pandemic situation in the country.

Tournament could move to UAE

With the current situation, it looks like ICC will be forced to find an alternative venue to conduct the 2021 T20 World Cup. Some ICC sources had earlier revealed that they are constantly monitoring the situation in India and have kept 'UAE' as the backup option. It will be interesting to see how BCCI react to the current situation considering the fact that it would be a huge blow for the board if the tournament is shifted out of the country.
