Arsenal star Katie McCabe revealed that former UFC champion Conor McGregor invited her to his Dublin pub. The footballer said that McGregor’s invitation came after she netted a goal against Canada in the FIFA Women’s World Cup. The Ireland captain scored one of the goals of the tournament directly from a corner against Canada. However, her goal couldn’t prevent her side from getting knocked out of the tournament in the group stages.
Notably, McCabe’s goal was recorded as her side’s first-ever goal in the tournament. Speaking about fellow countryman’s invite, McCabe told talkSPORT, “Conor invited me and my family to his pub back in Dublin, which was really kind of him and his family to look after us. I guess when you’re playing on the world stage, there’s more eyes on you."

The footballer added, "You’re attracting these high-profile athletes as well. It’s no more than the girls deserve to be playing on those world stages because people have sacrificed a lot, especially the girls on my Ireland team." The 28-year-old further added that though she visited the UFC star’s pub, she is yet to meet McGregor.
Katie added, "He was on holiday. So, I didn’t meet him in the end, but I’m sure we’ll cross paths in the next few months, I’m sure.” Notably, Katie has been with Arsenal for more than eight years and made 109 appearances for them in various tournaments.
