Former Indian cricketer, Kedar Jadhav on Tuesday, April 8 joined politics, kickstarting his new profession by joining alliance with Bhartiya Janta Party (BJP). Jadhav, who was in news to embark his new career, joined BJP in presence of Maharashtra minister and state BJP Chief Chandrashekhar Bawankule in Mumbai.
It is to be noted that the former India and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) batter Kedar Jadhav put down curtains on his cricketing career in June 2024. The 40-year-old re-created legend MS Dhoni’s retirement post while announcing his retirement, which read, “Thank you all For your love and support throughout my Career from 1500 hrs Consider me as retired from all forms of cricket.”
BJP is doing politics of development and I join them: Kedar Jadhav
Formally joining politics at the BJP headquarters at the Nariman Point, Kedar Jadhav said, “I bow down to Chhatrapati Shivaji. Under (PM Narendra) Modi ji and (Maharashtra) CM Devendra Fadnavis, BJP is doing politics of development. With this said, I under Bawankule enter and join the BJP.”
Meanwhile, the BJP Chief also expressed hapiness and said, "It's a day of happiness for us. In all spheres of life, he has had an impact. I welcome him home. Besides him, several other people have also joined us from Hingoli and Nanded.”
It is to be noted that Jadhav made his debut for India in 2014 during an ODI match against Sri Lanka. His T20I debut came in 2015. The middle-order batter went on to play 73 ODIs, scoring 1,389 runs at an average of 42.09, whereas he picked 27 wickets at an economy of 5.15. In his IPL stint, he played for four franchises, namely Delhi Daredevils, Royal Challengers Bangalore, Chennai Super Kings and Sunrisers Hyderabad. He also played for defunct Kochi Tuskers Kerala in 2010.
