Manchester City played their last Premier League match at the Emirates Stadium for the 2024-25 season against Bournemouth on May 21. An emphatic 3-1 victory went hand in hand with another emotional event at the Emirates Stadium which was Kevin De Bruyne’s final home-game with Manchester City. The 33-year-old Belgian midfielder is set to leave Manchester City at the end of the season as the club has decided against renewing his expiring contract.

With a player of De Bruyne’s calibre in the market, multiple clubs have been trying to sign the midfield maestro in order to bolster their squad. But two names which seem to be leading the list are Napoli and Chicago Fire. Napoli are reported to have offered a contract to De Bruyne, luring him with a change of scenery at the Serie A. With Napoli on course to possibly winning the Serie A title this season and a sealed spot in the Champions League next year as well, De Bruyne could be tempted to join Antonio Conte’s project.

De Bruyne feels that he still has some years left to play at the top level; hints at rejecting MLS move

Chicago Fire remains another suitor as the MLS outfit was reported to have made an offer very early on for De Bruyne. Owing to the discovery rights Chicago had for De Bruyne, they were the first among many other top MLS clubs looking to swoop up this top talent. While De Bruyne himself has admitted that he feels good to play at the top-level for a couple of more years, a move to the MLS might get ruled out.

During the latest post-match farewell celebrations in honour of the midfielder’s departure, De Bruyne said that he will be making a decision about his future in the coming weeks. He said that he will talk to his family as well before making his decision on where to play next. His presence in Man City’s squad for the upcoming FIFA Club World Cup still remains under jeopardy
