Kevin De Bruyne, the Manchester City midfielder, who is slated to leave the club at the end of the season, is unsure about his participation in the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. The current contract of the 33-year-old with Manchester City will expire during the middle of the FIFA Club World Cup, which will be played from June 14 to July 13, and when he was asked about his status for the tournament, the Belgian stated that he hasn’t spoken about it to the club either.

Notably, Manchester City decided to not renew the contract worth £385,000-a-week of Kevin De Bruyne, which will expire at the end of the season, aiming to rebuild the squad after not retaining the Premier League title. As per the report published in the MSN, Hugo Viana, the new director of football, is pushing to bring in younger players like Florian Wirtz of Bayer Leverkusen and Morgan Gibbs-White of Nottingham Forest.

I haven't really spoken to the club about it: Kevin De Bruyne on playing FIFA Club World Cup

After scoring a winner for Manchester City during their 1-0 triumph in the Premier League over Wolves at the Etihad Stadium earlier this week, Kevin De Bruyne spoke to TNT Sports about his future in regard to the FIFA Club World Cup 2025. He was quoted as saying, “I don't know. For me, it will depend on whatever happens in the future, depending on what team I'll go and what competition I'll play. And also if the new team doesn't want me to play, doesn't want to risk whatever happens.”

It is important to note that Kevin De Bruyne’s current contract with Manchester City will allow him to play three group stage matches of the FIFA Club World Cup 2025 against Wydad, Al-Ain, and Juventus. But if they make the knockout stage, then the Belgian won’t be available to them for selection, which would make it quite a situation wherein one of the best players in the world had to leave his team mid-tournament.

Kevin De Bruyne also said the following about his situation in regard to the FIFA Club World, “I haven't really spoken to the club about it, so I don't know. If they want to have a conversation, we can. But I'm not sure about this.”
