Royal Challengers Bengaluru (RCB) won their fifth away game in the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025, after bagging a convincing seven-wicket victory against Punjab Kings (PBKS) in Mohali. Pursuing a target of 158, Arshdeep Singh delivered a blow to the visitors in the first over, removing opener Phil Salt for just his score of one off three. However, Kohli and impact player Devdutt Padikkal stepped up in the pressure situation and produced some fine strokes from their bats. Both built a 103-run stand off just 69 deliveries. Padikkal fell against Harpreet Brar after contributing brisk 61-run innings to his team after playing 35 balls.

After Padikkal’s return to the pavilion, Kohli stood at the crease until the end and ensured RCB’s victory. He ended his innings after scoring an unbeaten 73 off just 54. With his knock, the veteran also shattered former Australia opener David Warner’s feat of most IPL fifties. It was Kohli’s 67th half-century in the distinguished league. The 36-year-old also became the recipient of the player of the match in his team’s one-sided success.

Taking note of Kohli’s superb batting performance and Challengers’ another success in away games, netizen posted some hilarious and congratulatory memes related to RCB on social media platforms. One of the X users named Pranav wrote, “King Kohli has done what he does best, make a cakewalk of a chase with ample help from Devdutt Padikkal. Credit to Bhuvi & Hazlewood nailing perfect Yorkers in death. #PBKSvRCB. Hoping both Rohit Sharma & MS Dhoni have an equally good outing today. #CSKvsMI.”

RCB gain third spot on points tally while PBKS drop down to fourth place

With this emphatic win, RCB are promoted to the third spot from the fifth position with five wins and three losses. Punjab, who were holding the third place, have been demoted to fourth on the tally with the similar number of victories and defeats.

Challengers will now return to Bengaluru to host Rajasthan Royals (RR) at the M. Chinnaswamy Stadium on April 24. PBKS, on the other hand, will square off against defending champions Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the iconic Eden Gardens on April 26.
