The current state of events for Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) seems to be going from bad to worse. Amid the contractual disagreements between the board and the players, Kusal Perera's side left for England where a victory could have calmed the situation down. However, the 3-0 whitewash in T20Is handed Sri Lanka their fifth consecutive white-ball series loss resulting in outrage among the fans.

A campaign on social media (#unfollowcricketers) was started by Sri Lankan fans to express their disappointment on the dismal performances by their players. With so much already happening, things went from bad to worse after a video got viral on social media where a few players can be seen on the streets of Durham violating the bio-bubble restrictions in place.

The players will return to Sri Lanka

In response to the video, Sri Lanka Cricket (SLC) have taken the big step to suspend all the three players in question for the 3-match ODI series against England. "Sri Lanka Cricket executive committee has suspended Kusal Mendis, Danushka Gunathilaka & Niroshan Dickwella for breaching the bio- bubble and they will be immediately recalled to Sri Lanka," the SLC Secretary revealed.

The trio had admitted that they had gone towards Durham's City Centre, a place where they had been categorically asked to avoid. The incident has certainly angered the already-disappointed fans with their vice-captain Kusal Mendis and the experienced players like Danushka Gunathilaka and Niroshan Dickwella involved in such a careless act.
