In the build-up to the ICC Champions Trophy 2025, the newly renovated Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore and National Bank Stadium in Karachi are set to host a tri-nation series involving Pakistan, New Zealand, and South Africa, beginning on February 8. These three teams are going to play each other once before the final of the tri-nation series goes down on February 14 in Karachi, just five days before the start of the Champions Trophy.
The opening match of the tri-nation series will be held between hosts Pakistan and New Zealand at the Gaddafi Stadium on February 8, and just two days later, the same venue will have South Africa and New Zealand play against each other. On February 12, Pakistan will take on South Africa at the National Bank Stadium in Karachi, two days prior to the final of the tri-nation series.

The tri-nation series will serve as a preparatory tournament for the venues in Lahore and Karachi, which have been revamped and refurbished ahead of the ICC Champions Trophy 2025. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB), who are the hosts of the 50-overs tournament, have stated that the capacity of the Gaddafi Stadium in Lahore has been increased substantially, with new chairs being installed there.
In their press release, the PCB revealed the following about the venue at Lahore, “480 state-of-the-art LED lights have been installed to enhance broadcast LUX levels, ensuring a superior viewing experience for fans worldwide. To further elevate the spectator experience, two giant digital replay screens - measuring 80 feet x 30 feet and 22 feet x 35 feet - have been installed. A brand-new hospitality enclosure for players and officials is near completion, ensuring that the iconic stadium is fully operational to deliver an unparalleled experience for all stakeholders.”
As far as the National Bank Stadium in Karachi is concerned, there is a new hospitality enclosure for the players and officials at the University End of the venue, while the PCB divulged on the rest of the work done in the press release, stating, “To improve broadcast coverage, 350 LED lights have been installed, ensuring optimal visibility for global audiences. Two digital replay screens have already been fixed and 5,000 new chairs have been installed to enhance spectator comfort.”
