During the ongoing second Test between India and England, Team India opener Rohit Sharma grabbed the attention with his hilarious one-liner. Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara were involved in a candid conversation, which was caught by the stump mic. The incident happened during the final over before Stumps on Day 3. While referring to Stuart Broad's fielding, Rohit quipped to Pujara, "Lambu ke paas gayi toh bhagunga mei (If the ball goes to Lambu, Stuart Broad, only then I will run).

There was another incident at the end of Day 2 when Rohit hogged the limelight with his quirky reaction. Before the last delivery of the day, Pujara briefly stopped play as he had some issue with side screen to which Rohit cheekily replied, "ek hi ball toh bacha hai abhi.... (Only 1 ball is remaining, get on with it)."

Rohit Sharma is reknowned for his witty one-liners and during his 176-run knock against South Africa in the first Test at Vizag in 2019, the opener had also come up with a tongue-in cheek comment. Coincidentally, Cheteshwar Pujara was at the non-striker's end that day also. Pujara had denied him a quick single. After nudging a ball, Rohit set off for a quick single but Pujara sent him back. While going back to his crease, Rohit was heard saying, “Puji bhaag bh*****d” and the video of the incident immediately went viral on social media.

Rohit starred with the bat in the 1st innings and his 161 helped the home side put on a commanding 1st innings total. On a tricky batting pitch which provided assistance to the spinners from Day 1, Rohit batted superbly. His free-flowing 161 consisted of 16 fours and 2 huge sixes. In the 2nd innings too, Rohit was in fine nick and remained unbeaten on 25. Rohit and Cheteshwar Pujara will resume India's 2nd innings on Day 3.
