McLaren’s driver Lando Norris missed out on a golden opportunity at the Russian Grand Prix when he failed to capitalize on the lead he had four laps before the finish on Sunday. Norris made a late call to pit and this cost him a place on the podium for the first time. It was a really hard pill to swallow for the young British-Belgian driver and it was evident from his face after the race was over.

The pain and agony got to Norris so much so that he shared a post on Instagram with the caption “Heartbroken”. Norris shared a picture of him in McLaren’s outfit and it can’t be said for sure that it was from yesterday or some other day’s. Nonetheless, what mattered was that Norris had a dull face in the picture.

People, including George Russell and Lewis Hamilton, came to console Lando in the comment section. “Keep your head up mate. That W is coming,” wrote Russell while Hamilton urged Norris to stay positive.

“You’ve got so much ahead of you, such a great drive! Stay up, stay positive,” commented Hamilton. Apart from Hamilton and Russell, French-Argentine driver Sacha Fenestraz, footballer Mason Mount, Jack Grealish, Mexican racing driver Pato O’ward, and McLaren’s official handle also consoled Norris on the same.

Obviously unhappy...devastated in a way: Lando Norris

Lando Norris had secured the first pole position of his F1 career and was really close to secure the first win as well. However, a late call made by Norris did not help his cause at all.

"I guess we made a call to stay out and we stand by that call, of course, the wrong one at the end. I made the decision as much as the team, more they thought I should box and I decided to stay out. My decision, I thought it was the way to go,” said Norris after the race.

Talking about the race, Mercedes’ Lewis Hamilton finished first, securing a record 100th Grand Prix win in the F1 circuit.
