After securing their Premier League 2022-23 berth on the final day of last season, Leeds United continued their unbeaten run in the English top-division league this season. The Peacocks defeated Chelsea 3-0 at the Elland Road on Sunday as the visitors were the architect of their own downfall in the match.

Chelsea goalkeeper Edouard Mendy made a blunder in the first half that resulted into the opening goal for Leeds. Mendy's howler helped Brenden Aaronson score the first goal for the home team in the 33rd minute. The lead was doubled by Rodrigo moments later after Chelsea's summer signing Raheem Sterling gave away a freekick on the edge of the box.

In addition to the Elland Road drama, Kalidou Koulibaly received his second yellow card of the game and was sent off in the 84th minute leaving Chelsea in the 12th place in the Premier League 2022-23 points table. Meanwhile, Leeds United are in the second spot behind toppers Arsenal.

Leeds United will look to continue their unbeaten run in the Premier League in the next fixture against Brighton and Hove Albion at the American Express Community Stadium while Chelsea will look to get back on the winning ways against Leicester City at Stamford Bridge on August 27.
