All-rounder Liam Livingstone returned to England midway through IPL 2024 for his knee injury treatment ahead of the T20 World Cup 2024. Livingstone was a part of Punjab Kings in the 2024 season of the Indian Premier League. The cricketer has suffered from a series of muscle injuries in the last two years. Not only this, but he also missed two games in the tournament after suffering an injury against Lucknow Super Giants.

The 30-year-old was benched by his side in a few games, but he returned to action against Royal Challengers Bengaluru. Despite his return in the Playing XI, he returned to his nation to get his knee "sorted" before the forthcoming T20 World Cup 2024. Livingstone wrote on Instagram, "IPL done for another year, had to get my knee sorted for the upcoming World Cup. Thanks once again to the Punjab Kings fans for all their love and support. Disappointing season as a team and personally, but as always I loved every minute of playing in the IPL".

Other than him, players of England’s World Cup squad participating in the IPL including Moeen Ali, Jonny Bairstow, Jos Buttler, Sam Curran, Will Jacks, Phil Salt, and Reece Topley are expected to fly back to England this week. The team is set for the first T20I at Headingley on May 22.
