Ever since it was announced that Lionel Messi will leave FC Barcelona, the transfer market had erupted with so many clubs expressing their desire to secure the services of the Argentine star. Although the 34-year-old is a free agent, not many clubs currently can afford Messi's high salary, with only Chelsea, Manchester City and PSG the contenders in the three-horse race.

However, with Manchester City signing Jack Grealish and Chelsea on the cusp of getting back Romelu Lukaku, there was only one destination left for Leo Messi - PSG. As the footballer bid adieu to his former teammates at Camp Nou, he did give a hint that moving to the French club was a possibility with the talks currently underway between the club and player.

Messi to PSG - Confirmed

Later on Sunday, it was finally confirmed by journalist Fabrizio Romano that Messi has received the official contract from PSG and he is ready to accept the deal. It is reported to be a 3-year contract with an option of one-year extension. The footballer will receive 35m euros per season with add-ons.

Messi expected to land in Paris this week

As per the reports, the agreement has been accepted from Lionel Messi's camp and only a few final details need to be fixed which will be done once the 34-year-old reaches Paris. With things happening so quickly, the footballer is expected to leave for France in couple of days for the medical, after which the signing will be announced officially.

The Argentine star is expected to receive a very similar welcome to the one that his former Barca teammate Neymar got when he joined PSG in 2017. Yes! The unveiling of Lionel Messi at Eiffel Tower is very much on the cards. It is rumoured that the club has already booked the iconic tower for August 10 and everything could get finalized in a couple of days.

While the footballer is currently in Spain, things are going to unfold pretty quickly from now on after he already bid goodbye to FC Barcelona. With the official announcement expected to take place very soon, this is certainly going to be one of the biggest-ever signings in history of club football. PSG are indeed going to be the team to watch out for this season, with the trio of Messi, Neymar and Mbappe playing together.
