In what comes as a good news for Indian football lovers, one of the greats of the game and a legend, Lionel Messi is all set to travel to India later this year. According to reports surfacing on the internet, the Argentine is all set to travel to Mumbai in December after making his last appearance in the Indian subcontinent in 2011.

According to sources quoting the Times of India (TOI), the 38-year-old, who has been one of the greats, is set to travel to Mumbai’s Wankhede Stadium on December 14. The iconic venue, which is known to have cherished some of the memorable moments including the 2011 World Cup triumph, is all set to cherish one more moment, but this time from the footballing arena.

A reliable source in the Mumbai Cricket Association (MCA) told TOI, “Yes, Messi is set to visit the Wankhede Stadium for an event on December 14. The organisers of the event (Wizcraft) have sought permission for the event, which will be tickets. Their request was discussed by the Mumbai Cricket Association’s Apex Council in a meeting recently and the permission was granted.”

The source also confirmed that a lot of cricketers may also attend the event, including the likes of MS Dhoni, Virat Kohli and the God of Cricket Sachin Tendulkar. However, a clarity on it is still awaited, according to reports, Messi will visit three cities in Kolkata, Delhi and Mumbai for a series of events from December 13 to 15. If reports are to be believed further, Messi will be felicitated at the Eden Gardens and will also conduct a football workshop for children and launch a football clinic in the city.
