Liverpool have confirmed the signing of Hungarian international Milos Kerkez from Bournemouth for a £40 million transfer fee, securing his services with a five-year contract. The 21-year-old, who predominantly plays as a left-back, is already the third major signing for Liverpool in the early stages of the ongoing summer transfer window after bringing in right-back Jeremie Frimpong and midfielder Florian Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen, spending a total of around £170 million.

Notably, the deal for Jeremie Frimpong went through for £29.5 million with Bayer Leverkusen before Liverpool broke the bank, signing their most expensive player in their history - Florian Wirtz - on an initial £100 million and a further £16 million in add-ons. The club has also signed the under-21 Hungarian goalkeeper Armin Pesci from Puskas Akademia for an estimated fee of £1.5 million.

t's a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world: Milos Kerkez

In his first comments after signing with Liverpool, Milos Kerkez was quoted as saying, as per BBC Sport, “It's a real honour for me, a privilege to come to play for one of the biggest clubs in the world, [the] biggest club in England. I'm just really, really happy and excited. After this, I'll go home and in my hometown enjoy a few days, and then I can't really wait to come back and put the training kit on and start to train and prepare for the season.”

Milos Kerkez has already played for big clubs like AC Milan and AZ Alkmaar in his young career after beginning his professional career with Gyor in Hungary. In the recently concluded 2024-25 Premier League season, the left-back was a part of all the 38 matches played by Bournemouth, scoring two goals and providing six assists, to ensure that the club finished in ninth place with 56 points to their name.

Apart from his exploits at the club level, Milos Kerkez has also been a part of Hungary national team 23 times, showcasing his potential for club and country in coming seasons.
