Sunil Narine joined an elite list during the CPL match in Trinidad when he picked up his 650th T20 wicket becoming only the second bowler in history to reach the milestone after Afghanistan’s Rashid Khan. The milestone arrived during the Caribbean Premier League match between Trinbago Knight Riders against Saint Lucia Kings at the Brian Lara Stadium in Tarouba on 26 August. The veteran spinner who was playing his 611th T20 match needed just one more wicket. He got it on the final ball of the 12th over, trapping West Indies batter John Campbell lbw for 27. The mystery spinner finished with excellent figures of 1 for 27 from his four overs.
Rashid Khan still leads the all-time list with 736 wickets from 547 matches, while Narine is second in the list. Dwayne Bravo is third with 631 and Imran Tahir is fourth with 582 wickets. At the age of 38, Narine continues to deliver at the biggest leagues. He has been with Trinidad and Tobago since the start of his career and has also played a massive role for Kolkata Knight Riders in the IPL for almost a decade. In the CPL he already holds the record as the competition’s leading wicket-taker.
Saint Lucia Kings beat Trinbago Knight Riders despite Pollard's heroics
Saint Lucia Kings produced a dominant performance to beat Trinbago Knight Riders by 36 runs in the 17th match of CPL 2026 at Brian Lara Stadium. Batting first, Saint Lucia Kings scored a massive 211 for 4 in 20 overs, on the back of a brilliant unbeaten 105 from Tim Seifert from just 61 balls. The New Zealand opener smashed nine fours and five sixes, taking the attack to every bowler. John Campbell contributed with a quick 27 before Sunil Narine trapped him lbw, while Charith Asalanka scored 33 and Obus Pienaar finished 8 as they went past 200 in the first innings. It was a competitive score on that surface and they were ahead at the hallway stage of the match.
Trinbago Knight Riders struggled with the ball. Chasing 212, Trinbago made a great start. Colin Munro and Narine put on 56 in the powerplay, with Narine smashing three sixes in a knock of 14 ball 25. Roston Chase struck immediately in the eighth over as he removed Narine, Matthew Breetzke and captain Nicholas Pooran in quick succession, leaving the hosts at 70 for 3. Munro scored 48, but the middle order collapsed. Pollard produced a late power hitting masterclass with a 26-ball 65 that included six fours and five sixes yet the required rate kept climbing. Chase finished with three for 24, and Matthew Forde closed out the innings as Knight Riders ended on 175 for 6. Tim Seifert was the player of the match for his terrific knock.
