The Delhi Premier League may be reaching peak crescendo with entertaining and closely contested games being the order of the day, but one particular highlight of the season hasn’t really been hitting a great peak. And that concerns a particular talent who may not be particularly talented as such. Well, it’s the New Delhi Tigers cricketer Dev Chaudhary. For a league that’s been featuring special and commendable talents such as Nitish Rana, widely known for his big hitting and run making talent in the KKR side of IPL, it’s a bit concerning that the Delhi Premier League has also featured someone who appears perhaps not meant for such a reputed stage in the form of Chaudhary.
His batting didn’t particularly delight the fans and neither his own teammates. As a matter of fact, it seemed a bit irrational and absurd even that a person not particularly skilled as such was even featured in a proper franchise outfit in the form of New Delhi Tigers.
Often times seen struggling to time the ball well and struggling just generally to get off the mark and on his way to brisk runs, Dev Chaudhary’s ineptness and sheer lackadaisical ways with the bat either led to online trolls or made him a subject of scrutiny, which now seems to have taken the ultimate form of vitriol.

Well, he’s been dropped immediately and shall take no further part as far as the 2026 edition of the Delhi Premier League is concerned.

The Delhi & Districts Cricket Association (DDCA) is facing scrutiny and will review a contentious DPL rule after the inclusion of cricketer Dev Chaudhary in the New Delhi Tigers squad sparked allegations of corruption and disrepute within the local cricket body. The man in question Dev, played two games as an opener, scored 0 off 2 balls against South Delhi Superstarz and 16 off 24 balls against West Delhi Lions. It is his innings against West Delhi Lions, where his unconventional batting stance and ineptness to even play one powerful shot, raised a lot of questions. Playing five dot balls to a spinner in the Powerplay had players, coaches and officials questioning in hushed tones as to how Dev made it to the playing eleven.
