Suresh Raina retired from International cricket in August 2020 and is now a commentator. But the star batsman’s name was confirmed to be a part of the Lanka Premier League auction, which took place on Wednesday. However, the auctioneer, Charu Sharma completely missed his name and continued with the auction, which left many fans fuming on social media.
The 36-year-old Raina's name appeared on the big screen along with several prominent names like Evin Lewis, and Rassie Van Der Dussen, but the auctioneer didn’t mention him and simply continued. This left all the viewers and fans bewildered, as many of them were expecting to see him in action after a long time.
According to reports, Suresh Raina chose not to register for the current Lanka Premier League 2023 auction. The event planners nevertheless included his name in the auction pool and placed his starting bid at $50,000. This has created a lot of confusion amongst fans, and Suresh Raina has not issued any statement about this incident yet.

Another fan even suggested that the batsman take strong legal action against the Sri Lankan board for using Suresh Raina’s name for promotion and then ignoring him.
An incident occurred in the 2022 edition of the IPL Auction when Raina’s name was announced but no team made a bid on him which resulted in him going unsold. Suresh Raina, who has been one of the best players ever for CSK, was expected to be picked by the yellow franchise, but they too didn't make a bid, which resulted in the end of his illustrious IPL career. Raina has registered 5528 runs at an average of 32 and a good strike rate of 136.76 in the IPL. After that, he was a part of the Hindi commentary team during the 2023 IPL.
