Uruguay veteran footballer Luis Suarez, allying with Argentina legend Lionel Messi, launched a football club on May 27. The club will compete in his country's football league. Both Messi and Suarez were teammates in Barcelona from 2014 to 2020. Both along with Brazil’s star player Neymar Jr used to gain the spotlight for being a formidable trio in La Liga. These three players notched up 131 goals while playing together for the distinguished Spanish football club. Suarez left Barcelona in 2020 to become a part of Atletico Madrid while Messi exited the club a year later to serve Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) in Ligue 1. Earlier, Neymar became the first member of the trio to leave the club for Paris Saint-Germain in 2017. Both Messi and Neymar played together for PSG from 2021 to 2023.

In 2024, both Suarez and Messi reunited in Inter Miami and both are now doing excellent for their new club based in the United States. After playing the sport together for these years, Suarez and Messi have now come together to become owners of the new team Deportivo LSM, which will compete in Uruguay’s football league.

Luis Suarez aims to deliver young talents to the sport through the club

Luis Suarez’s objective is to produce young talents for the sport. His aim is also to help footballers achieve their dreams through the club. He also revealed that the club will start its journey in Uruguay’s fourth division. Suarez’s ambitious project received its official professional license from the Uruguayan Football Association (AUF) in May 2025.

Alvaro Recoba, who served Uruguay from 1995 to 2007, will be seen rendering his services as coach to the club. Recoba, who earlier managed Nacional from October 2023 to June 2024, will be expected to utilise his leadership skills to nurture young talents.
